Litter Committee Minutes
January 19, 2007

We discussed the following:

• Takoma Branch initiative by MW-COG and various meetings coming up on this project in PG County. Perhaps FOSC can do spring cleanup and Sweep dates there as well.
• Response from local watershed groups about what efforts, such as advocating for increased street sweeping, storm grate covers, FOSC can piggyback on.
• Idea for painting park trash cans to increase use. Should we ask for recycling bins in park? During spring cleanup, should a few sections separate out bottles and cans to show what we could be recycling were recycling bins along the trail?
• Update on stenciling of storm drains. Jane Barrett is getting supplies and info and we’ll go from there. The consensus is that this is good project for scouts, church groups, etc.
• Further exploration of banners for the cleanups. Wendi is to follow up with park and grant option.
