FOSC Board Meeting Minutes March 17, 2016
Board Members Present: Kit Gage, Sarah Jane Marcus, Corinne Stephens,
Bruce Sidwell, Dee Clarkin, Delia Aguilar, Mike Smith

1). January 20, 2016 meeting minutes approved.

2). Treasurer Dee Clarkin presented financial report, expressed concern about
expenses beyond what has been allocated; these expenses were for the
February roundtable.

3). Agreed to invest $18,000 of FOSC funds as follows: $6000 equally in two
CDs from First Internet Bank of Indiana, $6000 in socially responsible
Vanguard FTSE social index fund, and $6000 in T. Rowe Price Maryland Tax
Free Bond Fund.

4). Sherrill Goggin voted to new FOSC board three-year term.

5). Bruce will work on welcome and orientation packet/document for new
FOSC board members and aim to produce it within three weeks.

6). Nominations Committee for new board members will consist of Kit, Bruce
and Corinne.

7). Preparations for FOSC Inspiration Works meeting on March 22nd: Kit will
order sandwiches; Corinne will staff water quality table; Kit will email
photographers to alert them that physical photos should be brought to the
event; if photographers only have digital copies, they can contact Sarah Jane
who can print them; Sarah Jane will remind Ed to make Facebook post, email
the database, and either email the listserv or find someone who will; Kit will
forward notice to members to forward to neighborhood listservs.

8). Sweep the Creek preparations: Delia will think about where CASA workers
will work; Sarah Jane will try to get an announcement in the Voice
newspaper.

9). Future meetings and programs:

a). Emerald Ash Borer May 3rd at Silver Spring Civic Center, Colter Burkes is
speaker, Michael Wilpers contact person.

b). Joe Howard bike event May 21st, Pat Ratkowski contact person.

c). Public meeting with County Councilmembers Tom Hucker, George
Leventhal, Marc Elrich; June 2nd or 9th at Silver Spring Civic Center; Kit Gage
contact person.

d). Possible fall meeting with John Parrish and Carol Bergmann discussing
Sligo Creek plant lists.

e). Bruce Sidwell will contact Anne Vorce and Kathleen Samiy with
suggestions for the CBT funded bike ride program; the Board agreed to have
a full meeting with Anne and Kathleen to discuss the bike ride.
