As part of the Litter Committee’s outreach effort, Marty Ittner designed an anti-litter message. The Litter Committee agreed that the anti-litter message would be effective on tee shirts worn by people committed to the restoration of Sligo Creek. We hope the tee shirt will show the community that there are people who care about litter in Sligo Creek Park and to generate awareness that litter in our community is an environmental problem. The anti-litter tee shirt was produced and distributed in conjunction with the 2003 Sweep-the-Creek workday. We have been finding that once people take part in a park clean up and see how much trash is collected; many of those people are motivated to help with our anti-litter outreach efforts. Wearing a cool tee shirt is a fun and easy way to help with our outreach effort. Approximately eighty tee shirts were made and sold out quickly. The Litter Committee will re-evaluate the possibility of doing a similar outreach effort during 2004.
