It rained again in the 400 block of Ellsworth Drive. The Sligo Bennington Outfall is again brown from sedimentation. Dept of Environmental Protection advised that the site is less than 5,000 sq. ft. and that the mitigation provided by the silt fence and hay is an improvement. Concerned residents should call Department of Permitting Services (DPS) or Maryland Dept. of Environment (MDE).
One picture shows the Bennington tributary outfall into Sligo Creek showing the brown water from the soil erosion.
Another photo shows how the silt fence is ineffective, even with the hay on the front yard.
It appears from this photo that the fence and hay prevent soil runoff, but the previous photo clearly shows that the rain and soil ran off all morning into the storm drain which flows to the creek.
